About DeWayne Lofton
Candidate for Austin City Council, Place 6
DeWayne W.
Lofton, 39, is a native Austinite and comes from a long history of
Lofton, Collins and Easley’s in this area.
DeWayne
is a single father of one daughter, Donnisha. He lives in the
Springdale Hills Neighborhood community and has been a resident of
East Austin his entire life. He also attends Mt. Sinai Missionary
Baptist Church in Northeast Austin.
He is a
graduate of the landmark L.C. Anderson High School in 1985. He has
attended Austin Community College, with studies in Insurance while
pursuing his interest in the insurance industry - a field of his
vocation for the past 15 years.
DeWayne
currently works for the Texas Association of School Boards, in the
Risk Management Department, where he assists in making public
education in Texas better, by working with school districts across
the State with handling and managing District losses, at times of
critical need.
DeWayne
has 20 plus years of public service experience in this community and
currently serves on the
City of Austin Bond Election Advisory
Committee. In the past he has chaired the Travis
County Children’s Protective Services Board, and the Capital Area
Safe Kids Fund.
DeWayne
has also served on various boards and/or organizations in this
community and he will take that wealth of knowledge and experience
to the Council and continue to make this City a world-class place to
live!
